''The first annual examination of Mr. Tupper's scholars at the new district schoolroom, Two Wells, was held on Friday, April 27. The examination was conducted by Mr. Burton, of Gawler: Mr. Scown in the Chair. The children seem to be making very good progress under Mr. Tupper's tutorship, considering that the school has only been opened little more than 12 months. The District Council voted the sum of £2 for the purchase of books for distribution as prizes, and Mr. Burton kindly gave a special prize for the best regular attendance. Afterwards the children and others partook of an excellent tea provided by the parents and friends of the children. The same evening a lecture was delivered in the schoolroom by the Rev. Mr. Evans, of Gawler, on 'Four Years in America' which was numerously attended. The rev. lecturer gave some very interesting sketches of the various scenes and places of note he had visited during his four years' sojourn in that country, coupled with some very amusing Yankee anecdotes, which stirred up the risibilities of the audience.
