Arthur Weatherill was the nephew of Mallala's Primitive Methodist Minister, the Reverend Thomas Weatherill. He married the Reverend's daughter Mabel in New York, and came to South Australia in 1911.He lived in Cleveland House. Arthur was nicknamed “Marker” because of his billiard room businesses, and he worked at various times for East Bros, Curnows Garage and later as an agent for East Bros. When the second story of Cleveland house was demolished, the stone was used to build Arthur's new home at 9 Balaklava Rd. Mallala.
